Just a heads up: I use grams and Celsius degrees in all my recipes, as I'm based in Germany.

Ingredients

  • 250 g Butter
  • 150 g Sugar
  • 5 Eggs
  • 200 g Flour
  • 150 g Ground almonds
  • 2 tsp Baking powder
  • 50 g Cocoa (not cocoa drink mix!)
  • 100 ml Milk
  • Chocolate drops
  • and a good pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius (top/bottom heat) and line a loaf pan with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, cream the softened butter with the sugar until a fluffy mixture forms.
  • Add the eggs one by one, stirring well after each egg to achieve a uniform consistency.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the flour, ground almonds, baking powder, cocoa, and a good pinch of salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter-sugar mixture, alternating with the milk, stirring until everything is well combined.
  • Fold the chocolate drops into the batter - this way, you'll get an extra portion of chocolate with every bite!
  • Pour the batter evenly into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  • Place the cake in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 50-60 minutes. Make sure the cake is firm in the middle when you insert a toothpick.
  • Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before turning it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  • If you like, you can dust the cake with some powdered sugar
  • Now you can slice your moist chocolate cake into perfect slices and enjoy!

The nutritional values are automatically calculated – I use them as a rough guide myself when I want to keep track.
